Surprises, surprises
Part One
"Jarvis, check the comp stats on the Mark 9, I have some ideas I want to fool around with before the party."
"Very well sir, shall I set up the- sir? I'm receiving a transmission message from Mr. Nick Fury, shall I put him through?"
Tony sighed turning away from his scientific holo-screen, " Why not, not like I have a option when he call anyways.."
" Stark, we have a problem."
" Does S.H.I.E.L.D. ever not have any problems? And who gave you my number?"
"It's Asgard related, thought you might want to take a look at it before I talked to Dr. Banner..."
" Oh him? He's always interested in jobs and assignments, he's especially helpful as long as he doesn't get too frustrated."
Tony had just finished his home/office repairs and was reopening Stark Tower with a bang. Since it was party at his tower it was public, and it was expected that Thor attend, along with the rest of the Avengers.
It would be the first time since they all gathered together since the battle in New York months ago.
"Alright, the anticipation is literally killing me, what is it Captain Patchy?- Fury..."
Fury sighed, not amused.
"Well as you can imagine, we don't have "Good Morning Asgard" on Earth but, getting to the point, Thor is bringing Loki back to Earth with him tonight."
Tony stopped modifying his screen for a moment.
" Why is Shakespeare bringing Mr. Golden Spearmint with him? No jails on Asgard? Loki gonna apologize in front of the United Nations? "
Tony mocked bowed, slicking back his hair. " It is with humble regret that I proclaim my most insincere apologies for trying to exterminate your race not once, but twice. I've truly truly learned my lesson."
Tony stood up
"I don't really know, you can ask him yourself when he gets here, but in the meantime, we need some place to hold Loki while you attend your little party . Since he's magically inclined and your technology cannot be manipulated like human guards, I thought you'd be up for the job."
"What? Smoke and mirrors get flustered about our little heart to heart last time we met?
Tony scoffed walking across the room picking up a drink from his bar.
...You'd think I would be the last resort, but I guess you're right, I am the smartest and most handsome of the group.
I'll see what I can throw together for our incoming extraterrestrial royalty."
"Alright Mr. Smart and Handsome, let me know when you get something worked out, they'll be here in a few hours. That gonna be enough time?"
"Please Fury, for the man with all the time in the world? Ha! Bruce and his indoors anxiety had me working on something before I let him in the tower, I'll just modify it to Loki's likings again."
"I'm sure he'll appreciate the sentiment.."
"Mmm, sipping from his scotch, yeah I'll make him real comfortable."
–
"Who was that?", Bruce asked exiting the elevator into Tony's penthouse office.
"That my friend, was Fury, guess whose bringing a plus one from our vacation spot on Asgard?"
Bruce stopped in his tracks, "no..."
" Yeah, don't ask why cause I don't know. But you and I are in charge of providing accommodations for our dear nemesis while we merry make downstairs tonight."
" You don't think this is some kind of scheme?" Bruce continued adjusting his sleeve buttons.
Tony began walking toward his bedroom to change.
" Hey look, I'm not worried, the very reason why Fury asked us is because Loki's magic doesn't have an effect on tech, ere go, we are going to provide the Presidential suite for Professor Snape's offspring."
" Your sure about this?" Bruce tried to knot his tie and straighten his blazer.
"Sure, no I'm certain! Jarvis, can we get started on tonight's' outfit-"
" Where exactly are we even putting him?"

" I'm sure you'll enjoy the excellent views of 80 ton reinforced steel and concrete surrounding you, for your entertainment, I've provided you with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, thought you'd like that. Oh, and refreshments are in the mini bar in the corner. You get tired, you have a fold out couch, that's a type of bench-bed kinda thing,- eh, you'll figure it out if you need it. "
Tony clapped his hands together, "Anything else your green gloominess?"
Loki looked around the "cell".
" I must admit, it is a nicer cage than the one on that gigantic metal hover tank"
"Yeah, that's because I built it, Tony claimed gesturing to himself...- And I would love to chat, but I have some merriment to attend upstairs, you know photos to pose for, autographs to sign... things that you know, you would like. "
Tony smiled, turned, and slid the reinforced plexiglass door into its locked position.
" You really believe this can hold me?"Loki began smiling, rushing to the door, Loki pressed his hands to the glass, I am not one of your drones you petty, worthless-"
"Ahem, Jarvis..."
An energizing crackle sizzled through the glass, rebounding Loki into the center of his cell.
Loki attempted to regain his composure but only succeeded in further disheveling his neck length black hair.
Tony smiled. "Electricity suits you, adds to the whole bed-head look your edges have going...
Right-, pointing behind him, party, merrymaking. B-bye."
--
Loki smiled as the man with the heart light walked into the elevator and disappeared, ascending to his loathsome "merry-making".
"I am the God of Mischief you cur, have fun at your party." Walking over to the mini bar he made himself a drink, a took a sip, sitting on this frustratingly soft "couch".
" But I will be joining you shortly..."
–
Tony and the rest of the Avengers were all in attendance, they were the center of attention.
Steve was learning new terms in English as he continued to socialize.
Thor was drinking beer by the kegs attempting to be the loudest on at the party, causing a few fractured shoulder blades as he "pat" others on the back to express his happiness.
Agent Barton we describing the mechanisms of his bow to some other martial expert agents.
Banner was in a corner, talking quietly to some other scientists that idolized him, or his work which he preferred.
Agent Romanov was nearby, being swooned upon by other single, and some not so single, millionaires who had been lucky enough have been invited.
But Stark stood alone for this party.
Something was bothering him. Maybe it was because Ms. Potts was out on business, maybe it was because he was so happy for once, that he didn't feel another need to celebrate. All of his friends were here, he should be out celebrating with them.
And still his feet held firmly still. Was this "content"? Well it was really boring
He had greeted every face in the party, and then a woman walked in the door he had never seen nor met before.
"Odd..."
He observed her luscious black hair flowing down to her shoulder in torrents. She wore a green silk dress tailored with dark trim with a thick black shawl covering her shoulders, which looked every bit more outstanding against her beautiful ivory skin that seemed to have sparkles embedded in it.
Tony disappeared into the crowd, resurfacing in front of the mystery woman. " Pardon me miss, but this is an invite only party and I'm sorry to say that I should have handed you your invitation personally on a silver platter."
Tony bent down and kissed the enchantresses hand.
" Allow me to show you around?"
The woman said nothing and nodded, her emerald eyes gleaming. She smiled and slid her arm within Tony's outstretched elbow.
" Do you know anyone here important?" he asked scanning about the room, seeing the various public dignitaries, celebrities, and other upper class civilians.
" I don't know anyone important, but I've heard much of every one of Earth's mightiest defenders lately." her voice was dark and deep with an accent, a lot like Elizabeth Hurley's. Just listening to her made you want to do anything to make her desires possible.
Shunning dark seductive thoughts aside he continued, " Oh? And which one is your favorite?"
" Hmm, it is so hard to chose between the amazingly versatile spies, the social delinquent hero, the anxious scientist, and the demi-god that would put the entire country's frat houses to shame in a drinking contest..."
Tony stopped and smiled. "Madame, I believe you are forgetting one."
" Oh no, but there is one hero I would like to meet in particular... One who fascinates me the most"
"And who might that be miss?"
" Why, you Mr. Tony Stark, you are my goal tonight, the only one I truly wish to fawn my attention over."
"Is that so? Well tonight might be your lucky night then"
" Mr. Stark, every night is my lucky night..."
" Please, call me Tony and your name?"
" Jade..."

The Trial of Loki - Part 1 - Asgard
The prisoner was brought, bound, muzzled, as he had been when the brothers first arrived from their sojourn in Midgard, and led to the dais. His hands were manacled to the podium and the three masters of magic - who had been sought from far parts of Asgard to assure they had no contact with him before his crimes - were positioned surrounding him to watch for his trickster ways. Even with their presence, and the presence of the assembled warriors, and Odin on his throne, the fingers of the guard assigned to remove the muzzle trembled as they worked it free, and the assembled throng drew in a collected breath of expectation. Some no doubt expec

The Trial of Loki - Part 2 - Midgard
"You were cast into the void. How did you survive?"
The arrogance that the accused had displayed against Heimdall and Thor seemed to bleed away. Loki looked downwards, swallowing, and his eyes were shadowed. "At first… I did not wish to." There was a murmur through the crowd as his words sunk in. Loki looked everywhere but at the Allfather's throne.
Thor shifted in his seat. All knew how much he had mourned when he thought Loki dead, despite his crimes. Frigga had not left her chambers for days. No matter his transgressions Asgard had still thought of Loki as their prince, and the thought that he had reached a state where he felt he co

Prologue - The Trial of Loki
"Why are you here, brother?"
"Our father…"
"Your father."
"….Our father thought it best not to put any others at risk with this duty."
"He thought to sway me with my supposed affection for you."
"Supposed?"
Loki smiled as he chewed and swallowed. Thor offered him another mouthful, eyeing the chains that held his hands — weapons even empty for a master magician — motionless against the wall.
"Why, Loki?"
"You would not understand."
"You could at least try to explain it to me."
The clear eyes looked upwards and his head shook, minutely. "You will hear everything at the trial."
"Are you still determined not to speak wit
